How to pay for it
A big question each time the Washington State Legislature meets is always “How to pay for each Department of the State of Washington?” This year the Legislature has met again for a 60-day session. Many different bills have been submitted covering many different issues. Also new bills have been submitted to focus on “How to pay for it?” (1)
The last day to submit a new bill that covers this issue has passed. So a progressive state income tax is not under consideration by the Legislature this year. Adoption of a graduated (progressive) state income tax was the recommendation of the Washington State Tax Structure Committee in Nov. 2002. (2)
The goals and objectives of sharing this web address with Washington State corporate leaders and government leaders is to keep the recommendations of this Committee under consideration. To not adequately fund any Department of the State of Washington, is not an option.
